Liebster Blog Award!

Hey everyone!  I've been given a Liebster Blog Award!

The purpose of the Liebster Blog Award is to recognize blogs with fewer than 200 followers that deserve a look. Now it's my turn to list 11 random facts about me, to answer the 11 questions Jenna has set me!  I'll also be sending out an email to my own 11 nominees for Liebster Awards of their own!  (So, my nominees, you're now tasked with doing this same thing! Post a blog linking back here, with 11 random facts about you, answer my 11 questions and nominate 11 new bloggers and think of 11 questions to ask them!  Don't worry, they can be anything!).

So, first, I want to link to the lovely woman who nominated me, Jen Christopherson! She's the author of Warrior Crone, and a fun blogger!  You can find her over at Authors News and Shoes and you can read my interview with her here!  Check her out!

Jen's Questions to Me:

Do you want to be rich and famous?
Well, I wouldn't mind being rich, but it's not a goal.  No, on being famous.

If yes why and if no why?
I'm an extremely private person, and the idea of being famous is... kind of creepy, actually.  That doesn't mean that I don't want my work known and read, but I want it to stand on its own merits and be appreciated for what it is.  I, myself, don't want to be famous.

What is the most important day of the week for you?
Monday, especially since I've been actually taking the weekends off.  There's a lot of my school work that's due on Monday, and I'm always further behind on everything (work and school) than I want to be by the time Monday comes around, so I've got to be on my game on Mondays.

What is your favorite dessert?
Chocolate cheesecake.  Do I even need to explain why?  *G*

How long did it take you to feel good about writing?
Hmm.  I'm not sure exactly how to interpret that.  Feel good about my writing (as in, to like what I write) or to feel good about spending time writing?  Writing always felt good, it was always something I enjoyed.  But I felt guilty about spending time doing it when I could have been doing other, supposedly more important, things.  Now, I feel guilty for not writing as much as I can.  So, it's a mixed bag, really.  I like what I write, some stories more than others, but in general I enjoy the process of getting better, of playing with words, of pulling together stories, of building worlds.  So awesome!

What is your favorite time of day?
Oh, I love the early, early morning, the hours on either side of dawn, always have.  The world is so quiet and peaceful, it's usually cooler (although in New Orleans you can't count on that) and everything looks a little fresher.  Plus, the transition between night and day is just pure magic.

Who do you depend upon?
My fiance.  He's my right arm, my best friend, and my idea checker.  *nods*

Has anyone ever let you down?
I don't think anyone has never been let down.  People, even the best ones, let you down sometimes.  We're all human, we all make mistakes, and we all let people down.  I know I have, and it can be a horrible feeling.  All we can do is learn from our mistakes and failings, and try to do better next time.

Where on Earth do you think is closest to heaven?
Well, personally, I love New Orleans, but I think heaven is a state of mind more than a place.  *nods*

What was the most valuable advice anyone ever gave you?
Wow, I've been given some really good advice over the years.  It's hard to narrow it down to just one piece.  But, I'd have to say the best advice is a quote from Thomas Edison.  "I have not failed.  I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work."

What is the most indulgent gift you ever received?
Oh, easy.  A Parker Sonnet fountain pen, which I adore.  My fiance gave it to me for my 25th birthday.  But it's not as if anyone needs an expensive fountain pen, which is what makes it indulgent.  *nods*

11 Random Facts About Me:

1.  I have story dreams, even if I don't write most of them up.  The story lines make sense, mostly, they're in the style of certain genres (noir dream, science fiction dream, etc.) and sometime I'm not even in them so much as reading or watching them.

2.  I have killer chronic insomnia, so I can be up at the weirdest times.  I actually prefer to be up at night, and when I'm not I don't tend to sleep well.

3.  If I don't like a subject (it's rare, but it happens) I can't keep it in my head for anything.  I'll study it just like I study other subjects, but it won't stick in my head.

4.  I hate coffee.  I even dislike the smell of it.  I still worked as barista at a coffee place for 9 months.  It was horrible.  And, despite all of that, I still like the occasional chocolate covered espresso bean.

5. My favorite color is purple.  My least favorite is orange.

6.  My birthday, my fiance's birthday, his mother's birthday, and his grandmother's birthday are all in the same month.  (February)

7.  I love writing dialogue and character interaction.

8.  As a kid, legos were my favorite toy.

9.  My favorite superheroes are Storm, Batman, and Spawn.

10.  I have four pieces of cover art that I really should be getting back to!

Hey there! Oh, I emailed the winners, and they'll all have links back to my blog, so I figured that would work. *nods* Did I miss a thing? Okay, then here's one for you: There are some TV shows that I watch just because I love the theme music. *G*

Thank you! I had a ton of fun with it!

You know, the Fiance thinks the same thing. He's a coffee addict! *G* So is my mom, and they both think I'm a bit strange.
