Rose Shadows

Experimenting with different shadow techniques, but I'm still not sure which one I like best.  Honestly, I tend to think that different techniques are just meant for different situations.  I could use the darker, full black shadows in one way and the dense crosshatching in another (since it gives a softer look), and then combine them to create an image with more shadow depth.

The problem with that approach, I find, is that it doesn't really help in defining my style.  If I'm always switching up my techniques, then my work is constantly shifting as well.  I think that more fluid approach has its strengths, but since I'm working on consistency at the moment... Yeah.

What do y'all think? Rose 1 or Rose 2? Fluidity or consistency?
